These are the terms we publish this site under and the basis on which we take your enquiry. If you use the site or send us an enquiry, you accept them.
What We Publish Here Is General
The technical material we publish describes how we generally approach electrical work, what regulations apply and what tends to drive your cost. It is general information, not our advice about your specific installation.
Installations vary, and the right approach for your property depends on its wiring, its switchboard, its supply arrangement and its condition. We cannot assess any of that from a web page. Do not start or defer work on the strength of what we have written here until a licensed electrician has inspected the installation. Ring us and we will look at it.
Standards And Regulations Change
Where we refer to AS/NZS 3000, AS 3786, AS/NZS 60335.2.80, AS 3959, the Home Building Act 1989, the Gas and Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act 2017 and the Residential Tenancies Regulation 2019, we are stating the position as we understand it at the time of writing. Standards get revised and legislation gets amended. Where a specific obligation matters to your decision, confirm the current requirement with the relevant authority, or ask us and we will confirm it for you.
Enquiries, Quotes And Bookings
Sending us the enquiry form does not create a contract and does not hold a booking. It asks us to contact you. You have a booking once we have confirmed it with you directly.
Any price we indicate before we attend is an estimate based on what you have told us. We give you a firm price after we have inspected the installation. The conditions that materially change scope are frequently not visible until we open the work up: asbestos backing panels, undersized or perished consumer mains, a board with no space left, concealed wiring in poor condition. If scope changes, we agree the revised price with you before we carry that work out.
Urgent Faults
We do not monitor the enquiry form as an emergency channel. Treat a burning smell, a sparking fitting, a power point or switch that is hot to touch, or scorching at a switchboard as urgent: isolate at the main switch and ring us on (02) 4072 8575. If a whole street has lost supply the fault is on the network rather than in your property, and you should report it to Ausgrid on 13 13 88.
What We Refer To An Accredited Provider
Work on the supply side of your meter requires Level 2 accreditation, which covers consumer mains, service lines, live meter connections, the point of attachment and rectification of network defect notices. It is an accreditation that Ausgrid issues. Where your enquiry needs that accreditation we bring in an accredited service provider rather than attempt it ourselves, and we stay your point of contact through to the certificate.
Do Not Attempt Electrical Work Yourself
All fixed and hardwired electrical wiring work in NSW requires a licence, whatever the job is worth. Under the Home Building Act 1989, unlicensed electrical wiring work carries penalties of up to $22,000 for an individual and $110,000 for a company. Nothing we publish here is an instruction to carry out electrical work. It is there so you know what you are buying when you call us.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or the Home Building Act 1989. To the extent the law permits, we exclude liability arising from your use of the general information on this site.
Governing Law
The laws of New South Wales govern these terms, and the courts of New South Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
