Contact A Maitland Electrician

Tell us what the job is and we work out a price, a date and anything we would need to check before we start. We take calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We put emergency faults ahead of scheduled work, and we book scheduled jobs to a nominated day because we usually need your supply off for an extended period and you should be able to plan around it.

What Do You Need Doing?

For an urgent fault, call us instead of using this.

Call Us For An Urgent Fault

A burning smell, a sparking fitting, a power point or switch that is hot to touch, or scorching around your switchboard is a phone call to us, not a form. Isolate at the main switch and ring (02) 4072 8575. We will tell you on that call whether we need to come tonight or whether it will safely keep until morning, and what the work costs before anyone leaves.

Check the street first and you may save yourself the call entirely. If the whole street has lost power the fault is on the network rather than in your property, and we cannot restore it for you. Report that to Ausgrid on 13 13 88. Where the outage stops at your boundary, or only some of your circuits are dead, it is an installation fault and that is ours.

What To Tell Us When You Enquire

Four things let us scope most jobs before we attend, which is how we give you a price rather than an hourly rate and a shrug: the approximate age of the property, what your switchboard looks like (ceramic fuses, breakers, whether anything on it is a safety switch), what the fault is doing and when it started, and whether it can wait.

If you want us to quote work rather than fix a fault, say so and tell us the phase configuration at your meter box and whether the property is single or double storey. Both change the price materially, and both are much better established now than on the day. A photo of the open board is worth more to us than any description.

What It Costs To Contact Us

Nothing. We quote free, we do not charge to look at a job we are quoting, and you owe us nothing if you take the price elsewhere. You pay us directly for the work itself. No third party pays us a referral fee or a commission, so the job we recommend is the job you actually have rather than the one that earns someone the most.

That holds at two in the morning as well. There is no call-out fee on an emergency attendance, so you are not charged for the truck arriving before anyone has looked at the fault. You hear what the work costs on the phone, so nothing on your invoice is a number you have not already agreed to. If it will safely keep until morning we say so rather than sell you an attendance you did not need.

Whether We Can Price It Without Attending

Some jobs we can price outright from what you have told us, and a photo of the open board is usually what decides it. A rewire, a long shed run or a board nobody has seen needs us there, and that visit is free as well. Either way you get a scope and a fixed price before anything starts.

If we think you are asking for the wrong thing, we will say so. Plenty of enquiries that arrive as a switchboard upgrade turn out to be one faulty appliance, and plenty that arrive as one power point turn out to need a circuit. We would rather have that conversation with you before you have paid for anything.

Who Turns Up At Your Place

The person who answers the phone is the person who does the work. We are a small outfit rather than a call centre with a dispatch board, so you are not repeating the story to a second person when the van arrives, and whoever quoted your job is the one standing at the board on the day.

It also means there is nobody above us to escalate a price to. What you are quoted is what we decided, so if something on the job changes you hear it from the person who can actually do something about it.

Where We Work Around Maitland

We work across the council area and the surrounding Hunter localities, from the older core through the growth estates to the acreage fringe. If you are not sure whether we reach you, ring us anyway. We are probably there already.
